Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certification New Cheng introduced the SQF system to its operations back in 2012 and was the first Unagi eel processing plant in the world to receive SQF certification.
SQF is a comprehensive and highly integrated program combining HACCP, ISO9001 and GHP standards. The program ensures a safe production environment that strengthens product safety management and quality in the areas of internal controls; food safety, hygiene and quality; planning; management; and traceability. SQF is compatible with HACCP and other international standards. Additionally, it is compatible with internal management systems companies may choose to implement.
SQF is the only non-mandatory international food safety standard in the world. In other words, implementation and certification is completely voluntary. SQF is widely regarded as an international standard of excellence aimed at realizing market needs.
The program can also be used as a verification basis for both internal audits and external audits by third-party, non-profit organizations.
At present, there are 18 accredited third-party certification bodies performing SQF site audits worldwide.
Note: HACCP is mandatory in many countries, whereas SQF is voluntary.
Differences between SQF and HACCP:
1. HACCP is incorporated within SQF; it can be said that SQF picks up where HACCP ends.
2. SQF is an internationally accepted system recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
3. HACCP is required by law in many countries, whereas SQF is voluntary.
SQF certification is the first step exporters take to enter the international market. To become certified, we set and implemented the strictest of autonomous food safety management standards internally. Our commitment to safe, high-quality food products speaks for itself.
We believe long-term and continuous improvement is the key to success. Getting certified was, essentially, putting our money where our mouth is. Being certified is a demonstration of our commitment to food safety standards as we bring quality products to market.
